Can you play Moon Sweepers alone?
The Steam listing supports single-player and online co-op with up to 16 people. You do not need a full lobby to start collecting dust, earning money or building a factory. The practical difference is how many jobs you can do at once: someone driving a sweeper cannot also stand at a blocked conveyor and diagnose it.
That distinction matters more than a fixed purchase order. A solo player benefits from a short, visible route that can be checked quickly. Before spreading equipment across several outposts, make one collection point deliver reliably to the base. You can then leave that route and clean somewhere else without returning to a pile of stranded capsules.

Set a goal you can finish this session.
Start with one complete delivery: collect dust, return it, sell it, and check that the money arrives. Next, finish a nearby region instead of sweeping scattered patches across the map. The official achievements distinguish collecting dust, completing regions and cleaning a percentage of the Moon; those are different measures of progress.
Our suggested session goal is one working improvement: a shorter return trip, one connected belt, or a garage that unloads successfully. These are editorial milestones, not a developer progression requirement. If you leave with a reliable new route, the session can be productive even when the global percentage barely moves.

Upgrade what you are still doing by hand.
Watch a single load from collection to payment. If the tool fills before you finish a short pass, inspect its capacity options. If emptying and walking dominate the trip, inspect transport and transfer options. If the tool is nearly ready to be replaced by a vehicle, compare the next purchase in the current menus before buying several upgrades for it.
Steam reviewers disagree about whether the early tool stage lasts long enough. That is useful evidence for making purchases deliberately, but it does not establish a universal best order. A player who enjoys careful hand-sweeping can value a wider brush more than a player saving immediately for a vehicle. Pick an improvement you will use during your next session.

Prove the chain before buying more robots.
The first automation target is dependable transport. Send one load through a packager and conveyor to a base hatch. Once that works, connect collection and processing in small steps so a new fault has an obvious place to look. Buying extra collectors does not help when the receiving end is full.
JOONAS changed in 1.0.4: it sends capsules to the nearest catcher and continues working without a player nearby. Older launch reviews describe range-related stops that this update explicitly addresses. Check the catcher, outlet and robot status before interpreting an idle machine as a reason to abandon solo play. A remote robot working while you are elsewhere in the running game is not evidence that progress continues after you quit.

Why does the Moon percentage still look tiny?
In a Reddit discussion, JCStuczynski wanted more players to help finish the whole Moon. Another participant, Autumn-Affect, felt they had already exhausted the upgrades they wanted while the global percentage was still small. These are different definitions of being finished: unlocking an operation versus clearing every remaining patch. Neither report is a reliable completion-time estimate.
The same tension appears in both positive and negative Steam reviews. Several players enjoy the cleaning loop while finding the final percentage target repetitive. Patch 1.0.4 improves robot behavior, but that does not prove the entire pacing concern has disappeared. Use a shorter milestone if your goal is a satisfying session. Use the global completion achievements if the enormous clean-up itself is the challenge you want.
For a stalled session, first decide whether the problem is a broken route or simply a slow but functioning operation. Watch a delivery arrive and confirm that cleaning continues. If it does, your next decision is about scale and enjoyment, not another troubleshooting fix.

Questions players ask
Do I need 16 players?
No. Sixteen is the maximum lobby size listed by the developer; single-player is supported.
Can JOONAS work when I am elsewhere?
Patch 1.0.4 says it keeps cleaning without players nearby. Keep its catcher and downstream route working. That does not establish offline progress after closing the game.
How many hours does 100% take solo?
There is no single completion time established by these sources. Equipment, layout and time spent actively cleaning differ, so use your own session progress instead of a promised hour count.
