03 / KEEP IT RUNNING

Moon Sweepers PowerKeep the factory running after dark.

Moon Sweepers Companion · Reviewed · Patch 1.0.4

THE SHORT ANSWER

If a Moon Sweepers factory runs in daylight but stops at night, check stored energy as well as generation. If it stays idle in daylight, trace its inputs and output first. A powered machine still needs the right materials and a clear destination for its product.

Before you build

  • A small working dust supply from a packager or capsule catcher.
  • Access to the processing machines and power equipment you want to use.
  • Read the input requirements on your own machines; upgrades and patches can change the setup you need.

CHECK IN THIS ORDER

Find the stop before you expand.

THE ROUTE AT A GLANCE
  1. Catcher: raw dust
  2. Pressure chambers
  3. Stone presses
  4. Base

Second input: a separate raw-dust line also feeds the stone presses. Match the inputs displayed on your machines.

Simplified connection diagram. Not a scale layout or a machine-count recommendation.

Separate a supply problem from a power problem

Look at the first idle machine and inspect its status while the line is meant to be running. Is dust arriving? Is another required ingredient missing? Is the output backed up? If the same machine works in daylight and stops after dark, then turn your attention to stored energy and the connected load.

    Check storage, not just panels

In the Steam power-storage discussion, DivineHoliness reports that Solar Twin (M) has a 4 kWh battery and Solar Tracker (L) has 10 kWh. The original poster confirms the discussion is about wanting separate storage. These are player-reported equipment figures: check the item description in your version before buying. A full battery and enough daytime generation are different questions.

  3. 03

Trace both inputs at the stone press

The Ginger Empire’s factory example sends dust through pressure chambers and routes their output into stone presses. It also supplies a separate raw-dust line to the presses. Follow each input shown on your machine, rather than connecting only the processed stream and expecting it to run. Keep the routes short while testing.

  4. 04

Check the output all the way to the base

A machine finishing a product is only part of the job. Follow the outgoing belt to its next destination and check for a stopped capsule at every junction. In the demonstrated layout the final output returns to the base. Prove that path with the small layout before repeating it.

  5. 05

Observe a full day and night before scaling

Run the connected machines long enough to see what changes when daylight ends. Note which machine stops first and whether its input is still present. If the line runs through the transition, add one stage or branch and repeat the observation. This is a troubleshooting method, not a claim that one fixed panel count works for every factory.

A player’s nighttime power example

The Ginger Empire’s 25 October factory demonstration uses two large solar trackers for each pressure chamber and three for each stone press. His setup is deliberately over-provisioned. These counts are a concrete example to compare with your own factory, not a verified optimum or a promise for every upgrade and load.

A USEFUL FIRST TEST

One symptom, two checks

A stone press stops. If it has power but one input is empty, inspect that supply route. If its inputs remain stocked and it stops only after sunset, inspect stored energy and the load on its power setup. Do not buy extra pressure chambers until you know which of these conditions you have.

FIND THE FIRST THING THAT STOPS

What do you see?

Everything stops after dark

Compare the machine’s power state with stored energy. Confirm the equipment’s current description and test a smaller connected load through the next night.

A press has power but produces nothing

Inspect every required input, then its output. The demonstrated factory feeds the stone presses from both the pressure-chamber line and a separate raw-dust line.

Dust is backing up at the catcher

Inspect transport and the next processing stage before adding robots. The 1.0.4 catcher holds 100 kg, so stored dust can hide a bottleneck for a while.

The machine says it cannot pack a capsule

Patch 1.0.4 lists a fix for this error when power and materials were available. Check the installed version before treating it as proof that you need more power.

Questions players ask

Is there power storage in Moon Sweepers?

In the Steam discussion “It needs power storage asap,” DivineHoliness identifies built-in batteries on Solar Twin (M) and Solar Tracker (L). That thread asks for separate storage; it does not show that all solar equipment lacks batteries.

How many solar trackers do I need?

In his 25 October factory demonstration, The Ginger Empire uses two large solar trackers per pressure chamber and three per stone press to keep his setup running at night. Treat those counts as his example, not a universal minimum: check your equipment and test the actual connected load through a full night.

What is the best catcher-to-processor ratio?

Start with a functioning route and watch where materials accumulate or run out. The cited creator explicitly says his balance is still being worked out. A machine count without the same upgrades, inputs and power conditions is not a reliable build plan.
